The Prologue :
I used Creative EP-630 for approx 4 years. I was very satisfied. Even after 4 years it still works flawlessly. Except some usage marks it still looks good. I gave it to someone & started hunting for new pair of IEMs.
I set my budget max at 6000 INR thought of buying PL-50 + headphones. I never had good headphones & was craving to experience better sound stage. Being a n00b at audio, I spent lot of time in research. I mean a lot of time. I decided to go with either Shure RH 440 OR Sennheiser HD 448. I checked Sennheiser HD 448 personally & turns out I have elephant ears & they were not so comfortable. I also checked few headphones at the budget range 6000-6500 INR and they were extremely good. The experience was OMG awesome. Hence I decided to just to buy IEMs for the time being & increase budget & go with good quality headphones later.
Still I am in hunt of good headphones
Firstly, I’d like to mention that 95% music I listen are instrumental. I mostly listen to soft rock, R&B & hip-hop. And also Bollywood & few Tamil / Telugu / Kannada songs. Not a fan of heavy metal.

Accessories, Design & Build :
A pair of Comply S-Series & silicone ear tips are provided which are of good quality. Noise isolation with the included foam tips is really good.
It also comes with a woven carrying case & a shirt clip.
The cable is pretty ‘tangle free’ as said on box. It is really of good quality [and a lot good compared to that of Creative EP-630]. It is in good length too.
The classy looking ear pieces are made of aluminium with anodized black part. These are lightweight & comfortable to wear. They are very comfortable & I don’t feel any discomfort even after 4-5 hours of music.
One word, Brainwavz M2 have excellent build quality for it’s price.
M2 does not actually require burn in. So I didn’t feel lot of difference after burning them for 100 hours. To be honest, they sounded really good just out of box.
These are indeed “intense, detailed bass” as mentioned on the box. The bass is really good & prominent makes it the best feature of M2. They does not distort & offer nice deep bass.
The mids are quite pleasing with good, enjoyable detailing. Vocals are clear & spectacular.
The highs are bit supressed, it kinda lacks crispness. Though M2 delivers them quite decently. At the price it is being sold, I guess highs are justified.
The soundstage is amazing, quite wide & deep, especially with this price point.
I mostly use BW with my four year old iPod Classic.
Next would be my Dell XPS Laptop, which is known for super awesome sound system.
And lastly, with my iPhone 4, occasionally
- Punchy & accurate bass. Warm, fun and exciting sound signature
- Excellent quality & design.
- Fits comfortably.
- Looks goood & classy.
- Included tips are excellent.
- Great VFM !
- Indian retaillers selling at too high prices
- Small carry case
- Not so good treble
I conclude Brainwavz M2 are the best IEMs in 3K price bracket. If you are looking for cheap IEMs with natural, relaxed sounding with good clarity & detail, Braineavz M2 is for you. If you need more bassy then Hippo VB will be a better choice.
